Recent Changes to French Swimming Pool Regulations

As of January 2006, it became a legal requirement to secure ALL swimming pools to prevent children being accidentally injured or drowned.

Current French swimming pool regulations state that as the owner of a private pool, you are liable to a fine of €45,000 if your pool is found not to comply with the new legislation. That rises to €225,000 for commercial or shared pools (i.e. pools shared between villas, hotel and restaurant pools or camping site pools).
